My Sears Craftsman 3/4 HP Garage Door Opener (Model 139.53990DS) has two problems. (1) Sometime, after I come home at night and shut the door, the lights will remain on all night. I do not have pets and would like to disable any motion control that switches the light on. (2) Only one of the two light sockets work. I have tried swapping light bulbs but the left side works and the right side does not.

That tip may help you fix that problem. There have been some reports of problems using CF bulbs on some similar models of garage door openers that have the HomeLink or AssureLink system. I am not aware of problems using CF bulbs in this particular model.
