In case of Lenovo it usually indicates that the drivers are included with Win 7. There is Vista driver from few moths ago, you can give it a try. I've recently purchased an IBM Thinkpad R52. It came with WindowsXP SP3 pre-installed on it, which works great. However, upon checking out a review of the thinkpad on another website I noticed that there are features that are supposed to be there that are not included on my install. I've gone through the list found at the following site. However, after installing all that I could, these features are still not available to me. The features I am lacking specifically are the indicator or meter for volume, battery (on the system tray, not the icon displayed by XP itself by default, but the actual indicator associated with the battery-life via IBM software) & screen-brightness.
I have installed all necessary software available on the site listed above. Including the Access IBM, Thinkvantage, Productivity Center, Update Center (non functional atm), Configuration Center, Keyboard Configuration Utility, Active Protection Manager, all Drivers for audio, display, etc hardware. None of these installs have enabled these 'indicators' nor have any assigned any value for the blue ' Access IBM' button (it does nothing aside from entering bios on POST) which leads me to believe I am still missing some critical/crucial software package that adds these features. If anyone could assist me in which software(s) I need to install in order to obtain these features I would greatly appreciate it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In a seperate issue regarding the R52. I've noticed my BIOS version is out of date (currently using ver: 1.18 date: 7/19/05) after checking the website (listed above) and reading the read-me, it states for the 07 Feb 2007 release the following: This version of Embedded Controller Program will only work with BIOS Version 1.23 (or higher). The BIOS is available in an additional package, a link is provided below.
So my first thought was to first attempt to install the 02 Jun 2006 release. Force Open Password Rar. However, this does not meet the 'next updates' version, as it itself is. This leaves me curious as to which install to actually use, or rather, which is 'safest' to install.
Add to that, the 'automatic' installer is no 'longer supported' as apparently Lenovo is 'making changes' to their software, and only in May will a new version be available. Checking the 'manual install' area recommends you run something along the lines of '76UJxxUS.EXE' however, there is no such file.
The only executable files within the package are 'BIOSUPTP.EXE'. The name corresponds to the following file, the bios image itself.
This is also a bit confusing. Could someone please verify, and specify exactly what files need to be used, and in what order to get my problems fixed (I'm more concerned with the volume/battery/brightness on-screen indicator, as I have no intention of installing Windows Vista, so this takes presidence over the other question).

I just wanted to take a moment to thank the lenovo forum, community, whomever for giving me absolutely no response to my question, while I waited for a response, for 32 days. Not only does NOTHING work (yes, I've installed literally EVERY.SINGLE.DRIVER & Software from the website) within the realm of 'special features' but now I realize, even MORE than I had initially wished to work, and now need to work, work either.
