I learned Dyna-scape on the trial=error system. Some questions popped up but the forums answered those questions. I then took a class at the community college for more skills. To do it over again I would do more training off the bat. Not sure about the online training, am more of a in your face type person. Dyna-scape use to offer training seminars for a few hundred $$$ but I think it went by the wayside. I should say also that I have the 4' binder type user manual.
My edition of Dyna-scape is 2007, I have not upgraded nor do I have access to sketch up with my version. My use is concept plans for the client, though more for my calculations for materials as it is faster and more accurate. So far no client has been interested in purchasing the fully detailed plans. Irrigation 'as-built' plans are included with irrigation installation, and is a line item on the spreadsheet so I am paid for it. I have thought of hiring a designer to free some time, but the economy did that for me.

I have been working in DynaScape since 2004 and have a vast knowledge of the software and it’s potential. My suggestion to you is this, if you decide to purchase the full program, play around with it for awhile to get a feel of the different types of toolbars, then you might want to consider the online training. Based on what you have said, this being your first cad program your learning curve will be reduced by taking the training. I purchased the full program with DS Color back in 2007 and by the end of 2008 I had fully paid for the software from all the design work I had. I would also recommend that you not get involved with Color or DS 3D at this point until you feel comfortable with the main software. Don’t forget to inquire about the subscription fees and what they provide, which for one is a very good support system.
