Middle School Choice Programs will be the focus of a School Advisory Council meeting at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Media Center. Representatives from area middle schools, including Watson B. Watkins, Bak Middle School or the Arts and Jupiter Middle, will make brief presentations, answer questions and assist with the application process. Students and families can drop off their leftover Halloween candy at the school, where it will be used to build gingerbread houses at the Gingerbread Family Night on Dec. Families are invited to walk on the newly resurfaced Nature Area path at 7:15 a.m. Fridays when school is in session. Try-Day Friday for students is Friday and begins with a healthy breakfast in the cafeteria along with the usual Friday Dance Party. Students are collecting canned goods and other nonperishable food items as part of the Food for Families drive.

PALM BEACH GARDENS ELEMENTARY A STEAM Open House takes place 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Annual Art Show will display artwork from every student in the school. Music will be performed by students. Safety Patrols will be selling pizza and dessert. The school has scheduled tour dates at 9 a.m.

JUPITER MIDDLE Disney’s “Beauty & the Beast Jr.” will be presented at 7 p.m. 16 and 17 in the auditorium. The musical is directed by drama teacher Donnie Quigley and co-directed by Johnnie Butler. Meghan Thomas as Belle, Gavin Baird as the Beast/Prince and Riley Flynn as Lumiere join a cast of 50 students on stage, and 19 working as backstage crew.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased at the door. The school is at Military Trail and Dakota Street in Jupiter. BRIEFLY Students in kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to participate in the Hanley Foundation ArtiGras Youth Art Competition.

Students can submit their artwork through their school’s art teacher until 5 p.m. Entries will be narrowed down to 77 finalists, and the winners will be announced at noon Feb. 17, the first day of Artigras.
